The Sahat Tower or The Clock Gate in Kalemegdan park located beyond The Stambol Gate.They are connected via a little bridge. Building started in 1740 according to the plan and design of the Venetian builder and engineer Andrea Cornaro during the occupation of Serbia by Austro-Hungarian. He also reconstructed defence walls on The Belgrade Fortress during the Turkish rule. The Sahat Tower was finished in 1789 under the Turkish government.
St. Petka's Chapel construction began in 1935 on the site of an older chapel, on top of a spring that is believed to have miracle-working and healing powers for women. The chapel was completed on St. Petka Paraskeva's day 27th October 1937. The design for the church was done by the architect Momir Korunovic. Saint Petka is very impotant saint for all Serbs and also she is a womans protector. Many people beleive that in medieval time relics of Saint Petka were exposed close to the spot where this Chapel is today. During the last excavation of the foundations for St. Petka's Chapel the bones of some Serbian soldiers were found, who had perished in the defence of Belgrade in 1914 -15, during the the first World War.
Cathedral Orthodox Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Belgrade was built from 1837-1840 during the rule of prince Milos Obrenovic, according to design of Adam Friedrich Kwerfeld. The church was built in the style of classicism, but the roof glittering in the summertime is a late baroque style. The gold-plated carved iconostasis was made by the sculptor Dimitrije Petrović, while the icons on the iconostasis, thrones, choirs and pulpits, as well as those on the walls and arches were painted by Dimitrije Avramović, the most distinguished Serbian painters of the 19th century. The church is located in the center of the city beside the Kalemgdan park.
